Zilla Parishad, Sangli

Zilla Parishad is an important institution in Panchayat Raj and it is known as Shikhar Sanstha. As per the recommendations of the Naik Committee, the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Act. According to Section No.6, a district council is established for each district except for urban districts. Sangli Zilla Parishad was established in Maharashtra on 1st May of 1962.
