The district of Sangli is a recent creation made as late as in 1949. It was then known as South Satara and it has been renamed as Sangli since 1961. It is partly made up of a few talukas which once formed part of the old Satara district and partly of the States and jagirs belonging to Patvardhans, and Dafles which came to be merged during the post-independence period.
District Planning Committee
At the District level District Planning Branch is working under the direct control of District Collector. Planning Department, Government of Maharashtra is the parent department of the District planning Branch. Head of the Branch is District Planning Officer.
Competative Exam Guidance Workshops
On the occasion of Competitive Exam Guidance Workshop District Collector Mr. Deependra Singh Kushwah encouraged candidates from Sangli to get proper guidance through this workshop to crack the exam. He further motivated candidates to appear for exams like UPSC (Union Public Service Commission), MPSC (Maharashtra Public Service Commission) and join Indian Administrative Services.
Candidates from Sangli district don't get proper guidance while preparing for these exams, students from Pune, Mumbai Delhi have many options to get the guidance for their preparation.
